Runbook vs SweetProcess
Runbook vs SweetProcess: compare SOP documentation, policies and quizzes with lightweight recurring checklists, audit trails and flat team pricing in CHF.
Last checked . Prices and features change; see the sources at the end.
SweetProcess is software for documenting procedures, processes and policies. It also has knowledge bases, quizzes and task assignment [1]. It suits teams that want to write and maintain their operating manual and train people on it.
Runbook does less. It doesn't edit SOP documents. It runs recurring checklists: templates with required and optional items, runs checked off by the team, schedules, and an append-only audit trail with CSV export. Pricing is flat per organisation in CHF, and it is hosted in the EU. Runbook is new and has no document editor, quizzes or AI features.
Prices and features were checked on 2026-11-04 on SweetProcess's official website and may have changed since. SweetProcess is a trademark of its owner. Runbook is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by SweetProcess.

Cost for an example team
The calculations below use only the published list prices, before taxes. They are not converted between CHF and USD. SweetProcess's reduced pricing for teams with fewer than 10 employees is not published, so it is not included.
| Team size | Runbook | SweetProcess, monthly | SweetProcess, yearly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 users | Team: CHF 19/month, or CHF 190/year | $99/month (base covers up to 10) | $82.50 × 12 = $990/year |
| 10 users | Team: CHF 19/month, or CHF 190/year | $99/month | $82.50 × 12 = $990/year |
| 15 users | Business: CHF 49/month, or CHF 490/year | $99 + 5 × $5 = $124/month | ($82.50 + 5 × $4.17) × 12 = $1,240.20/year |
Key differences
Documentation vs execution
SweetProcess is built around writing and maintaining procedures, processes and policies, and publishing knowledge bases. It also has quizzes to check understanding [1]. Runbook has no SOP or wiki editor. Its templates are checklists: sections, items, notes and {{variables}}. You can paste an existing Markdown checklist to create one. If your main problem is that "the procedure isn't written down", SweetProcess targets that. If your problem is that "the steps get skipped and we can't prove what was done", Runbook targets that.
Proof of completion
In Runbook, a run can only be completed when every required item is checked. Each check is written to an append-only event log for that run, and you can export it as CSV, or export all data as JSON. Read-only share links (revocable) let you show a completed run to someone outside the team.
Recurring work and CI
Runbook's Team and Business plans create runs automatically on schedules, such as every Monday or the first business day of the month. The API and GitHub Action can start runs from CI and wait for completion. We did not verify recurring-task scheduling on SweetProcess's homepage, so we make no claim about it here. Check SweetProcess's own documentation.
Training, AI and identity
SweetProcess offers quizzes, AI-generated drafts, SSO (SAML or Active Directory) and SCIM [1]. Runbook has no training features, no AI, no SSO and only owner/member roles.
When to choose SweetProcess instead
- You need to write and maintain SOP documents and policies, not just checklists [1].
- You want quizzes to check that staff understood procedures [1].
- You need SSO or SCIM user management [1].
- You want Zapier or a broad integration ecosystem [1].
- You'd like help migrating existing documents. SweetProcess offers a migration service and a Word import tool [1].
When Runbook fits better
- Your procedures already exist, and you want them run as checklists every time with an audit trail.
- You want flat pricing for up to 10 users (CHF 19/month) and a free plan to start.
- You want to gate releases on a checklist from GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Forgejo.
- You prefer EU hosting, passwordless sign-in and no trackers.
