Manifestly is a checklist and workflow tool for "teams that run recurring work" [1]. It covers SOPs, role-based assignments, scheduling, data collection and many integrations. Its pricing is per user, with a self-serve Business plan and an annual Enterprise plan [1].

Runbook has the same basic aim, recurring checklists, but a narrower scope and a different pricing model. It has templates with required/optional items, runs you check off together, schedules, an append-only audit trail, and an API and GitHub Action for CI. Prices are flat per organisation in CHF, and it is hosted in the EU. Runbook is new and has fewer features than Manifestly.

Prices and features were checked on 2026-11-04 on Manifestly's official pricing page and may have changed since. Manifestly is a trademark of its owner. Runbook is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Manifestly.

Key differences

Pricing model

Manifestly charges per user. Its FAQ says "You pay for the number of users on your account" [1]. Runbook charges a flat price per organisation, so adding a fifth or tenth member on the Team plan doesn't change the bill. Above 30 users, Runbook has no plan. Manifestly's per-user model has no listed upper limit.

Workflow depth

Manifestly lists conditional logic, data collection fields and file uploads [1]. Runbook has neither branching nor form fields. Its items are checkboxes with notes and simple {{variables}}. Runbook enforces one rule: a run can only be completed when all required items are checked.

Integrations and enterprise features

Manifestly includes Zapier, Slack, Teams, API and webhooks on Business. Enterprise adds SAML SSO, custom branding, SMS notifications, Data Tables and QuickList [1]. Runbook offers email, Slack, Teams and signed webhooks (Team and Business), a REST API and a GitHub Action. It has no Zapier connector, no SSO and no SMS.

Developer workflows

Runbook was built with CI in mind. The "Runbook: start checklist run" GitHub Action can start a release checklist and wait until it is completed, so it can gate a deploy. There are also GitLab CI and Forgejo examples. Manifestly offers an API and webhooks [1]. We did not check whether it has a dedicated CI action.

When to choose Manifestly instead

  • You need conditional logic or data collection and file uploads inside checklists [1].
  • You rely on Zapier or want SAML SSO, custom branding or SMS notifications (Enterprise) [1].
  • You need more than 30 users, or want a vendor with a stated SOC 2 Type II audit [1].
  • You want AI integrations with tools like Claude or ChatGPT [1].
  • You only have one or two users and want per-user pricing to keep costs low: one Business user costs $10/month [1].

When Runbook fits better

  • You have roughly 3–10 people and want one flat price (CHF 19/month) instead of a per-user bill.
  • Your checklists are simple and recurring, and you mainly need required items enforced and an exportable, append-only audit trail.
  • You want to gate deploys on a checklist from GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Forgejo.
  • You prefer an EU-hosted, Swiss-run service with no trackers and passwordless email sign-in.
  • You want a free plan for one person to try it out over time.
